History

Louisa May is powered by a Kelvin P4R (Engine No 35948), which was originally manufactured in 1976, exported to Nova Scotia, Canada, and installed in a fishing boat. In 1981 it returned to the Kelvin Works, and was refurbished before being installed in Louisa May (Formerly Hilda Ellen)

  • March 1976 - Kelvin Engine P4R No 35948 Supplied to Ruston Diesels Ltd, Nova Scotia, Canada.
  • March 1981 - Engine returned to Kelvin Works for overhaul.
  • May 1982 - “Hilda Ellen” built by Canal Transport Services for J Broadhurst, Hyde, Cheshire.
  • August 1984 - Sold to K Hutchence, Llantwit Major, Sth Glamorgan. Value £9800.00.
  • November 1991 - Sold to B Allison, London.
  • December 1995 - Sold to C Brown, Peterborough. Renamed “Louisa May” Value £19,000.00.
  • November 1998 - Relocate mooring to Braunston Boats.
  • September 2003 - Extended to 55ft by Roger Farrington, Ivy Bridge Marine, Braunston.
  • January 2006 - Bottom plate over-plated by Roger Farrington.
